Ocean acidification is a challenge facing coastal waters across the globe. Within the Chesapeake Bay, ocean acidification is directly impacting commercial fisheries – specifically the shellfish industry. Working with Dave Kuhn from Food Science and Technology and other researchers at UNH, VIMS, and VMRC, we are directly measuring dissolved carbon dioxide in addition to other water quality parameters at 5 sites (3 in the Chesapeake Bay, 2 on the Atlantic side of the Eastern Shore. As part of the project, we are using R-shiny to create interactive dashboards to display data. The example here is updated hourly.
